About the data

SkiScout lists cross-country (Nordic) ski areas across the United States: groomed Nordic centers, club and public trail systems, and ungroomed backcountry routes.

Area facts - location, trail length, fees, grooming - are collected from public sources such as the areas' own websites, state and federal agencies, and OpenStreetMap. Every fact has a source, listed on the area's page. When we couldn't verify something, we leave it blank rather than guess.

Trail conditions come from skiers like you. Pin colors show how recent reports rate the skiing; gray means nobody has reported in the last few days.
